OUR PROCESS
DustBusters Wooden Floor Treatment
BEFORE: Wooden floors can exhibit scratches, pits, discoloration, and cracks. Gaps may form between the boards, and issues like cupping and crowning may occur, where the center of the board becomes uneven compared to the sides.
Surface Preparation
We begin by scraping the top layer of the floor using a hand scraper to remove stains, marks, and imperfections. After the top layer is thoroughly scraped, we vacuum the surface to remove any loose dust.
Sand-papering
Next, we use 60-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface, finishing with 100-grit sandpaper. For floors requiring extra sanding, we start with 36-grit sandpaper, followed by 60-grit and 100-grit.
Putty Filling
Dents and gaps in the surface are filled generously with Asian Paints wood filler putty. Cracks are also treated with the same filler to ensure an even surface.
Post Sand-papering
Once the filler has been applied and any excess removed, we sand the edges of the cracks and gaps using 320-grit sandpaper. This step ensures the surface is smooth and even.
Color Polishing & Touch Up
We apply Woodtech PU Finish evenly on the floor using a spray or cloth, depending on the surface’s needs. The diluted polish is applied in multiple layers, allowing 30 minutes to an hour between coats for drying. After each coat, light sanding is done until the floor achieves the desired color and shine.
Sealing
For sealing, we lightly sand the surface before applying the first coat of Woodtech PU Sealer mixed with hardener. After the first coat has dried, we apply a second coat of PU Matt Sealer with a water base. Light sanding is done between coats to ensure a strong bond. Once the second coat is applied, the floor will have a glossy finish and repel liquids.
AFTER: The cracks and gaps are filled evenly, the color is restored, and the floor’s gloss is rejuvenated. The sealer provides long-lasting protection against stains and spills.
